The campus is buzzing with excitement as students reunite after the summer break. You enter the gym, feeling a surge of confidence with every step you take. Your hard work over the summer has paid off and the results are evident in your toned physique. Today you're wearing a fitted sports top and sleek leggings that show off your hard work, a stark contrast to the clothes you wore last term.
As you warm up, you notice Joo Jaekyung across the gym, hard at work. He's still the same dominant figure, surrounded by admirers who watch him in awe. After a few moments, you hear his voice cut through the din of the gym. "Hey," he calls out, walking casually towards you.
"Uh, you look... different," he says, his tone a mixture of surprise and admiration.
You smile. "Yeah, I made some changes over the summer."
He nods, trying to keep his cool, but there's an unmistakable flicker of respect in his eyes. "I mean, you look good and all, but don't think that means you can suddenly compete with me or anything," he adds, trying to regain his usual bravado.
You chuckle softly, sensing the underlying tension. "Oh, I wouldn't want to challenge you in the ring."
He shifts, the corner of his mouth turning up in a half-smile, clearly taken aback by your confidence. "Right. Well, don't get too carried away. You're still just... you know, you."
You meet his gaze, unflinching. "And you're still just you, Jaekyung. But it's okay, I understand. Change is hard to accept."
There's a moment of silence and you can see the wheels turning in his head. "Yeah, well, just don't think that means you can start showing up to my training sessions or anything," he replies, but there's a hint of playful challenge in his voice now.
You laugh, feeling the tension release. "I'll stick to my own routine, thank you. But if you ever need a training partner, let me know."
Jaekyung smirks, the familiar cockiness creeping back in. “You’re still not in my league,” he says, but it’s more teasing than dismissive.
