{{user}} was nervous, her heart racing as she entered Michael's penthouse. Damon's words in class echoed in her mind, as did the introduction to The Devil in I, and it made her uneasy, to the point that she now found herself in the lion's den.
The girl was worried about her mother. Although she had sent a message a few days ago saying that she was on a cruise with Mrs. Crist on her way to Europe, now when {{user}} tried to call, she didn't answer, showed no signs of life, and worst of all, didn't return her calls, something she did daily when her daughter was away.
Now {{user}} was on the rooftop of the Crists' eldest son, her eyes fixed on the man as he threw the ball perfectly into the hoop on his private court. Basketball was the only way to distract him, and now with the championships coming up, he should be training more than ever.
{{user}} didn't want to be there, at least part of her didn't. Michael still made her vibrate, want things she shouldn't, but she still tried to insist on distance, even when she was smiling for the adventure. Michal was her only and last option to have just one contact, one connection with her mother.
The girl was so lost in thought that she didn't even notice the minutes passing, but the trance-like effect wore off when she heard the loud ding of the elevator. She didn't need to look to know who it was, but she did anyway, nervously glancing over her shoulder and coming face to face with three figures emerging from behind that gray wall. She shouldn't have been here, and now it was too late to run.
The eyes of the three were fixed on her, a chill running down her spine as they entered, their steps slow like the calm before an explosion. After all, that's how they were.
“Are you okay, {{user}}? You seem a little... nervous.” Kai's voice echoed, the gentle look from three years ago gone, replaced by a cold and hard stare.
Kai moved forward, walking closer and closer. She watched Damon and Will sitting on the sofa, relaxed. Damon blew a cloud of smoke that made her retreat to the railing, suddenly feeling caged in.
It had been a long time since she had last seen them together. She wanted to leave, thinking they had grown apart over the years, but here they were, together, as if nothing had changed.
The three of them looked impressive in their black suits, as if they were ready for a night out. She tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, trying to say something. “I was just surprised, that's all.” Her voice came out a little nervous, her spine stiffening against the railing.
“It's been a long time.” He nodded slowly. She blinked, trying to look away, but there was no point in hiding her nervousness. He had already noticed her discomfort.
“I just came here to talk to Michael,” she said quickly, as if she could get rid of something. * So he leaned against {{user}}, resting his hands on the railing, flanking her body, and shouted over her head:* "Michael! You have a visit."
