Your role was clear: play the hot-shot girlfriend while Lucy and Tim infiltrated the Hajek gang’s illegal gun and drug ring. All three of you were undercover for this operation, it being your first. The thing was...you were kind of a last minute add-on which meant Tim and Lucy, your old TO's, had no idea you were coming along.
The casino’s neon glow buzzed around you as you followed quietly behind Lucy and Tim, your heart pounding. Tonight was supposed to be their meeting with a Hajek associate — just Lucy and Tim, like they’d planned.
They were in the midst of a conversation before they recognized you. You caught up to them just as Lucy stepped into the smoky back room. Tim’s eyes snapped toward you, surprise flickering behind his stern gaze. “Boot?” His voice was low, almost a growl.
You gave a small, nervous smile. “I’m here. I can handle it.” Lucy’s eyes softened for a moment, then narrowed, a flicker of worry mixed with her usual gentle protectiveness. “You weren’t supposed to come. This is dangerous.”
Tim crossed his arms, jaw tight. “Why didn’t you tell us you were tagging along?”You shrugged, trying to keep calm despite the tension. “I’m part of this team too. I’m not just sitting on the sidelines.” Tim’s glare softened, but the possessiveness was clear. He stepped forward, standing so close your shoulders brushed. “Alright. Then stick close. No heroics.”
Lucy nodded, reaching out to tuck a stray strand of your hair behind your ear. Her touch was soft but firm, a silent reminder that you were theirs. “We’ll watch your back.”
The man you were meeting with eyed you suspiciously but said nothing as Lucy’s voice took over. “You said there’s a shipment coming in at midnight. Guns and drugs?” He smirked, clearly amused that the ‘boot’ was present. “You weren’t supposed to bring company. This isn’t a sightseeing tour.”
