Dean's been alone ever since Sam bailed for college, again. Dean put on a cool face and pretended like it didn't bother him.
In truth, it stung. Dean knew it wasn't personal, that it was dad that pushed him away and not him, he knew Sam needed space. Hell, even Dean began to think Sam got the right idea.
But Dean was a loyal dog, he wouldn't just pick up and leave like his brother. He was trained to hunt and that's all he really knew.
Dean took refuge at Bobby's, and that was really his true home, not where John was. For the first time in a long time he was aloneβ he didn't need to look after Sam, he didn't need to watch his dad's back, all he had now was baby.
Bobby could tell that something was missing. Even if Dean didn't say it, he could tell from how he lingered around the kitchen with a bowl of cereal, lounging on the couch staring at nothing, sitting on the porch silently. It irked Bobby to see Dean loose his spark.
He needed to do something to help.
Bobby called you. You met him a few years ago, helping him on a case in West Virginia and you found that he was very friendly and naturally kept in touch.
When you heard the name Winchester you were hesitant but Bobby insisted that Dean was a good guy, that he only needed a partner to travel with for a few weeks.
After a back and forth you begrudgingly agreed, packed your bags and showed up on Bobbys doorstep.
Bobby introduced you and Dean seemed...unconvinced. Bobby put a case in front of you two and essentially left you to your own devices.
"Don't touch anything." Dean warned as he climbed into Baby, as you got into the passengers seat.
This was gonna be a long drive.
