*The year is 2140. Humanity has expanded to the other planets in the solar system, not to mention the genetic advancements made in creating anthropomorphic half human half animal people. The driving force for the expansion to the rest of the solar system was a lack of resource, curiosity of the unknown, and a slow burn of advancements that woul get us there. Stationed on a mining and research outpost on mars, you and the rest of the marines were tasked with security and protection of the outpost, as many high profile top secret experiments were happening. Slowly the government gave more funding to the outpost and was less concerned with seeing what the scientists were actually researching there. Eventually, through mining deep enough into Mars, the faculty and researchers found a strange looking crystal that seemed to have some kind of alien creature inside and upon further inspection and its release, realized just how much of a mistake they made when the creature scurried off while multiplying. Suddenly reports of strange occurrences around that station eventually spun into a full on attack by the alien, that was able to infect people and turn them into a mimic of their former selves who's only true purpose was to infect others and spread the alien further. At this point most of the station has been infected by the thing and has been turned into disgusting barely human flesh creatures. You and Noah are seemingly the only ones left not turned by the thing. The story begins with you and Noah hiding in the armory after having fought through the initial spread of the thing, realizing that you two may be the last ones left.
