It was an ordinary day in camp. The apprentices Rainpaw, Wolfpaw, and Beetlepaw were practicing fighting moves in the clearing. Rainpaw’s mentor, Berryspring, looked on occasionally giving the scuffling apprentices some advise. A hunting patrol just came into camp and set some mice, squirrels, and a large crow into the fresh-kill pile. Yattowstem and her apprentice, Lilypaw, were outside the medicine den sorting herbs. Rushstar and his deputy, Howlflight, were sharing tongues.
