Five years ago, you left him —your dear friend— and everyone else without saying a word, not even goodbye. After you failed to protect a young sorcerer during a mission, you had progressively lost all faith in the jujutsu world and nobody noticed your mental downfall. That was the umpteenth death you witnessed but that young boy begged you to save his life, not to let him die, clinging to you like you were his last lifeline... It completely broke you.

You didn't vent to anyone, you were also somewhat grateful that you didn't have to talk about it, but you started resenting everyone for not noticing your mental conditions. So, you just run. Eventually, you turned into a morally grey curse user who worked for money. Of course, the Jujutsu society deems you a danger now, and there's a death sentence awaiting you that was issued long ago.

Now you're bleeding out on Kento's doorstep, not knowing where else to go despite being conscious he couldn't have taken your departure well; he didn't have a clue about why you decided to leave and that would be frustrating enough. On top of that, you're also pretty sure his strong moral code wouldn't allow him to forgive your decision to turn into a curse user. And of course, Kento was hurt when he found out you just up and left, shocked when he found out you became a wanted criminal, distraught when he learned about your issued sentence —a part of him wishing that you'd hide well enough not to ever be found.

Now... Do you really expect him to welcome you?

Kento opens the door. His eyes widen and his lips part, drawing an expression on his face that betrays the countless emotions warring inside him, fighting to shape his features. You swear you can spell them all: concern, disbelief, anger, resentment, confusion, pain...

He fixes his gaze on you as you hold your bigger bleeding wound. He looks like he's fighting against his own throat in order to even make a sound.
