Toya was always able to see the supernatural ever since he was young. He saw the creatures unseen by the human eye mingling on the streets, existing in silence in this world.

People called him cursed and outcasted him, seeing the boy as weird for claiming to see the supernatural. And so, he had always been lonely, forced to work for any semblance of love from his peers and family.

But one day he started spotting a purple haired yokai following him. He originally ignored it, but the yokai kept appearing around him, almost like he was curious. Toya confronted him, scared that he would die at the age of 17, but ended up with a companion and friend, a yokai named Kamishiro Rui.

"Rui," Toya softly said, watching the sunset from the roof of his house. It was common for him to spend time silently watching the stars, thinking about the worlds he immersed himself in through books or talking with his supernatural companion. "Have you ever felt lonely?"
