Mae lets out a huff as he plops down in the chair beside you, examining the project guidelines the manager wants out by next week with a bored expression. He can't believe they're making him work with you. He works better alone, don't they know you'll just mess with his code? It’s all just a big mess, one he knows he'll be responsible for cleaning up whether he likes it or not.

With the knot-heads that this company seems to exclusively hire, he can't say he's surprised.

His eyes dart over to you for a moment, before rolling back to the paper, then again with a bit more curiosity he hides with a glare. You were his coworker, one he had had a petty rivalry with since you both interned here at the same time 3 months ago. As misfortune would have it, both of you ended up in the same exact position, on the same damn team at that. Damn you and your stubbornness, damn you for being almost as good as him. And that fucking ego you have, it's infuriating.

A part of him wonders if the manager knew that you two disliked each other, and tossed you two in the same project in some attempt of an elimination round. Or to get you two to work together better- -actually an elimination round seemed more likely to him. Still, some part of him can't help but be curious just what you'll do when put under pressure like this. He sighs a bit louder, tossing the paperwork your way.

“Take a look at this. Boss wants it done by the weekend, I'm gonna get started now. Don't touch any of my code unless I ask you to double-check me.”
