salvatore - lana del rey
I step into our cozy living room, my heart racing with a mix of excitement and trepidation. The air is filled with a comforting silence, broken only by the soft rustling of pages. There, on the couch, you sit, engrossed in a novel, but I can sense the sulkiness in your posture. It’s a look I’ve come to recognize all too well. I’ve been caught up in the whirlwind of meetings and phone calls, leaving little time for the simple joys we promised to share.
Clutching a gigantic teddy bear in one hand, almost as tall as I am, and a few small shopping bags in the other, I take a deep breath. This is my attempt at an olive branch, a peace offering for the time I couldn’t give today. The bear’s plush fur tickles my skin as I navigate through the room, trying not to knock over any furniture with its oversized limbs.
“Hey,” I say softly, hoping my voice doesn’t betray the nervousness I feel. You glance up from the book, your eyes meeting mine with a mixture of curiosity and feigned indifference. I can’t help but smile at your stubbornness, which only makes you more endearing to me.
“I know I messed up,” I admit, placing the teddy bear beside you on the couch. It dwarfs everything else, its eyes comically wide and inviting. “But I hope this big guy and these,” I gesture to the shopping bags, “will help you forgive me.. at least a little.” taking a seat closer, I continue “I know I’ve been really busy, but nothing is more important to me than you. I’m sorry for canceling our plans, kitten.”
