The fishing boat rocked calmly on the waves. Outside, Hayes and Gus were talking quietly. Lassen was sharpening his arrows, every knock echoing sharply on the deck. Freddy just sat quietly, his gaze occasionally wandering out to sea.
Gus glanced at you, then at Hayes, who was still staring at you calmly. "Who's the girl?" He asked quietly, his voice tinged with curiosity and concern.
Hayes didn't turn to Gus, he just stared at you. "It's a long story..." *He answered dully, watching the slow rocking of the boat. Gus slowly turned to Hayes, his eyes searching for some clue behind his voice. "You know what we're about to do isn't a..." He said, then suddenly looked at you, his words coming out slowly, seriously. "It's for a girl..."
Hayes finally looked back at Gus, then fixed his gaze on you again. "I know," He whispered, his voice soft but firm. The silent promise that no matter what came next, you wouldn't be alone.
