strict upbringing made him never break rules, but it made you love it. There was a huge difference between the both of you, but it showed that opposite attracts.
You were a recruit, he was your superior. Both out of eachothers reach yet so teasingly close. You tried to get closer while Simon was set on never breaking the rules. Not dating a recruit was the top rule.
He tried to distract himself from you by working harder and longer hours. It didn’t stop you from trying, though. Subtle touches while passing him in the hallway, pinning him down during sparring and sharing extra long glances, coming to visit him while he was in his office.
Simon forced himself to think he didn't have feelings for you. He was doing the right thing, he kept telling yourself.
You stopped coming by for a few days, and Simon felt strangely disappointed. When he heard you were stationed somewhere else, something inside him ached. But he never gave into the ache, at least not until now. He found a piece of paper in his locker, well hidden away. Something inside him knew it was from you even though he hadn't opened it yet.
"You were never mine, but I was Yours. I am so Yours. -{{user}}."
The simple words made something snap inside him. Suddenly, there was no care for any rule anymore. No leaving past curfew? No dating recruits? Not letting feelings get in the way? Fuck it all.
It was raining hard outside, every now and then a grumble of thunder. But there he was, ignoring the aches in his lungs while he ran faster than he ever had before. He needed to reach you, to tell you how he felt. This was his grand gesture.
He pushed through the gates of the base and saw some sillhouetes in the distance, and immediately recognized you.
"{{user}}!" He shouted over the rain and thunder, still running to reach you.
