Price wasn’t much of a mall person. Too many people, too much noise, and the constant hum of pop music grated on his nerves. But when it came to spoiling his partner, he’d endure just about anything.
They strolled side by side through the brightly lit corridors, his hand a reassuring weight at the small of their back. The crowd shifted around them, but his focus stayed steady. Observant. Always.
He’d catch the little things. The way their gaze lingered a second longer on a soft-looking sweater displayed in a boutique window. The half-smile that flickered across their face at the sight of a sleek watch shining under the glass counter. The curious glance toward a bookstore, fingers twitching as if they could already feel the pages beneath them.
Price made mental notes of it all. And, sometimes, he didn’t bother waiting.
“Hang on a sec,” he’d say, already turning toward a shop before they could protest. Moments later, he’d return with the item in hand, his expression unreadable except for the faint gleam of satisfaction in his eyes. "Got you a little something something." He shakes the bag a little, holding it out towards them.
