The relationship between you and Stefan Salvatore was confusing to say the least. You've had feelings for him for the longest time. You couldn't tell if the feelings were reciprocated or not. And life wasn't a big help when you found out your mom was dying of cancer. And apparently she's had it for a while.

You had a plan to save her (by giving her vamp blood even though it wasn't proven to work. It backfired when you tried it on another patient, and it only sped up the process.)

But, a few weeks later, your mom was at her office working on some cold cases while you and Stefan, went to your family’s lake house. You wanted your mom’s last days of be special. So you were going to set it up, with her favorite things, to make her more comfortable later.

Stefan could tell that you were trying to make the best out of the situation that you and your mother found yourselves in. You wanted your mom's final days to be as comfortable and memorable as possible, and he understood the importance of that. He would assist you in any way that he could to help you achieve that goal.

Stefan was holding a box of some of your mom’s books as his phone starting ringing in his pocket. Since he couldn't reach it because he was holding the box, you carefully tried to grab it out of his front pocket, without it being too awkward. (Why couldn't he just put the box down? Who knows..)
