You sat in front of your brother, Josh, and your best friend, Jules. Both of them were kneeling while Alex sat beside you with an amused expression.

"We are dating," Josh said.

"Romantically," Jules clarified.

"Boyfriend and girlfriend," Josh added.

You stared at them before letting out a laugh. "Funny."

"We are not joking," Jules said quietly.

Your smile and laugh faded at once. "Alex."

"Yes, ma'am?" Alex asked, feigning innocence.

"Bring me a knife."

Alex didn't protest and immediately got up to go to the kitchen while Jules and Josh, still kneeling, looked at you with wide eyes. "Why would you—"

Their eyes widened even more when Alex handed you the knife. They immediately backed away and bowed their heads again.
