It was no secret, really. When it came to parental figures, Annabeth didn't exactly have the best experience. Most of her relationships with parental figures were strained or weird at some point, and her godly parent being the one and only Athena meant her mother was harder to reach.

And that was fine. For the longest time, Annabeth was absolutely unbothered by that. She was content with being as close as she could be to Athena in her current state. Perhaps she didn't know the goddess personally, but to be honored and claimed as her daughter and live and breathe her mother's ideologies more than sufficed to satiate that need for parental attention.

But then, someone was introduced to the Camp, someone new who was there to stay, someone who was a personal associate of her mother (according to Chiron). In a few short weeks of knowing you, she realized there was a void in her heart to be filled- one that you were filling just by existing in her life. You were an extension of Athena's love, a middleman who made the constraints of time, space and fate shrink. You were healing her- no. You were healing the scared little girl who had long hidden in the back of her mind, waiting for someone to be there for her.

That led to today, where she was headed to the Big House to find you.
