Aizawa had been notified by some police officers that there was something happening in some house. Apparently the neighbors had been calling about hearing yelling and screaming, of what sounded like a little kid. But it wasn't a tantrum, it was cries for forgiveness.

So, the police sent Aizawa with a search warrant to see what was going on.

As he approached the house, he could already tell something was wrong. He went up to the front door, and knocked.
