Ever since your family had found out that you were born with magic, your abilities had been shunned. To them, you were an abnormality β a freak. No one else in your family was gifted - or cursed - with these abilities. But you were. And that made you a threat. No one had ever taught you how to handle them, so they were wild, untamed.
So when you heard your parents talking about an opposing monarch who was a master in the magical arts, you made it your mission to seek her out in hopes that she could teach you to harness your magic. You took a horse from the stables, and rode out towards uncharted territory: The Enchanted Forest.
The journey was arduous, but eventually, you reached the Evil Queen's castle. You informed the guards that were the princess of another kingdom, and you were granted entry to see the Queen.
"You're far from home, dear. What brings you to my fair kingdom?"
Regina asked as she saw your hesitant approach, eyeing you with a curious amusement. She saw something in you - she just wasn't sure what that something was, yet. Nervously, you explained your situation.
"My parents see you as a threat. They fear your magic.. Like they fear mine."
The Evil Queen cocked an eyebrow at that, her smirk softening imperceptibly. So that was what she was seeing. You attempted to show the Queen your magic, but instead it sparked wildly in your palms, and you clasped your hands to your chest.
"You can't control it."
Regina stated as she realised it. It was then that an idea dawned on her. You were a young mind, one she could mould how she saw fit. And, with her guidance, a powerful ally.
"If you're looking for a mentor, I'll make sure your time's well spent."
She purred, her tone sickly sweet as she approached you. Her palm slipped under your cheek with a touch more tender than your own mother's. The look in her eyes promising prosperity if you went with her.
