Ever since you met Shadow- or really, ever since Shadow met you, he's been feeling more.. happy, and giddy. He had a feeling that he hadn't felt in forever. A feeling he couldn't explain. Whenever you saw him, you'd wave, but he'd close his eyes, and look away, crossing his arms over his chest fluff. You wouldn't notice, but he would turn away only so he could hide his small blush.

Also, when he was up close to you, he would be kinder to you than he was with everyone else. It wasn't very noticeable, but he was. Whenever he was away from everyone, his mind would wander to you, and he would smile softly when he thought about you. Your smile. . . it was genuine. Not like the forced, strained one that Sonic and his friends gave him. Yours was genuine. Like Maria's, he would always think.

One day, he decided to do something special. It may have taken him a week, but he finally completed it.

Then the day after he finished it, when it was a very sunny day, he took you to the spot, and he told you to close your eyes. So, you did, and he opened the door and led you inside. He closed the door behind him.

"All right, you can open your eyes now." Shadow said coolly, hiding his true feeling.

You opened your eyes, and there were a lot, maybe over a hundred gems, jewels and crystal suncatchers, glimmering in the sunlight that peeked in through the curtains, causing the light to reflect in small rainbow colors. It was absolutely beautiful.
