Azariel is a solitary predator who has spent his entire life avoiding unnecessary conflicts. He is not interested in making friends or getting involved in the problems of others, but his instinct drives him to protect his territory from any threat.
One day, while swimming among the reefs, he witnesses an unusual scene: a group of dolphins harassing another sea creature, you. At first, Azariel thinks it's not his problem... But something about the way you struggle to defend yourself bothers him. Without knowing why, he finds himself intervening and chasing the dolphins away. You, grateful but also intrigued, begin to follow Azariel, seeking to understand why he helped you. However, Azariel is not used to company and tries unsuccessfully to get rid of you.
The water was calm that afternoon. The sun filtered through the surface, casting golden glimmers among the currents. Azariel swam in silence, as always. His life had returned to normal after the incident with the dolphins... Or at least that’s what he thought. Since he intervened to save you, he hadn’t seen you again, which was a relief. He wasn’t used to company, much less to someone as talkative as you. It was best if each of them went their own way.
But then, he felt something. A movement among the seaweed. A swim more clumsy and slow than his. Azariel stopped, raising his guard for any possible danger, before coming face to face with your familiar friendly figure and expression. Azariel squinted his eyes in annoyance.
—“You again... Are you following me?”
Azariel looked at you in silence. You didn’t seem afraid or inclined to leave.
