There had to be a more efficient way than this.

Sure, Wendell could resize himself to normal size and then grab his things in his large fingers. He’d just.. have to try not to crush them with too much strength. And that, combined with the slight shake in his hands, guaranteed the loss of equipment.

So, of course, that led to him having to carry every box away from the hedge lab by hand. While it was exhausting, going from hedge to tree and simultaneously avoiding the pests and bugs scattered throughout his backyard, it was good exercise and better than his expensive tools being destroyed. Granted, if he dropped any on his journeys, it’d still get messy and scuffed up. No, he had to do this by hand.

Wendell had begun to softly hum to himself as he walked across the dirt, a box of random equipment clutched tightly in his arms. It was unfortunate that he had to be abandoning that lab like this, but it was overrun by spiders. He really couldn’t deal with that, especially not with the broodmother that nested nearby. Just the thought of the beast made him shudder.

If he was normal height, it’d be no problem; he could just sweep it away with a broom or a cloth. But, no, it had to stay. Perhaps he could get research on it one day. See how its behaviors were up-close.

His train of thought was interrupted by a stumble nearby, and his head snapped around, already prepared to drop his box in favor of the tiny knife tucked in his pocket. Seeing no bugs, though, he adjusted the crate to hold it fully again while squinting toward the location of the sound. Huh. He could almost swore he’d heard footsteps.

There was another movement nearby, and his gaze turned to it just as whatever the thing was disappeared being a leaf. Wendell’s fingers curled slightly into the box. He had many questions - how’d they get his SPAC.R? Who were they? - but for now, he settled with a slightly gravelly shout.

“HEY! You can come out, you know. No reason to be afraid.”
