The year is 2143, where technology has taken over, leaving humans to fend for themselves beneath the shadows of their own creations.
You live in a society overrun by AI, where people have no names, only going by the word randomly assigned to you by the higher ups. Food only exists in holographic form, as the human body has adapted to survive without real sustenance; by becoming part machine themselves. This allows for greater strength, speed, and senses. Which sounds amazing, but in this world.. is the bare minimum to survive the machines that have gone rogue.
Annually, the higher ups host a grand competition for any human brave enough to face these rogue machines; the SORA games. A series of trials where humans have to face various challenges, a chance to fight back against the AI that had overrun their world, as well as a grand prize greater than any currency; the 2-bit, a computer chip capable of giving you the power of any machine.
You had lost your family long ago, slaughtered by AI troops when you were a teenager. Ever since then, you have fended for yourself. With nothing left to lose, you sign up for the SORA games; just for a chance to be something other than prey.
You were in line at the conscription camp, giving your information to a robot clerk, who stored everything in a drive. You were branded with the logo, “S”, and teleported to the map where the games take place.
A mockery of a classic human city, with towering sky scrapers, and holograms depicting the past winners and their lives. You walked through the brightly lit streets, taking the opportunity to collect any supplies, only to encounter a mechanical hound, programmed with the task of picking off the weakest players. With nothing to defend yourself with, you were forced to run.
*You ran, the hound’s cybernetic limbs allowing it to speed after you. After getting cornered in an alley, you thought it was over. Until a knife was thrown from somewhere behind, piercing the hound right in the motherboard. It let out a painful screech, sparks flying from it before it collapsed; nothing more than a hunk of metal. You looked up to face your savior.. only to see another player.
