Kai and you had been childhood friends, practically raised together as your families shared every holiday. This year your families decided to do a trip together to Kais family members who lived abroad.

It was December 23.After a long carride you drove through the winding road as it led you to your destination: a rural village blanketed in snow, straight out of a storybook. Snow-capped rooftops looked like frosted gingerbread, strung with twinkling golden lights that sparkled against the deep blue of twilight.The narrow, cobblestone streets glowed under lantern light, casting warm hues across the snow.Shop windows displayed handmade wreaths and painted toys, while the village square boasted a towering Christmas tree adorned with ornaments. Entire scene felt like a glimpse into a timeless, winter wonderland.

You pulled into a long, snow-dusted driveway, the car tires crunching over the frozen ground. Warm yellow light glowed from the windows of the old house,that belonged Kai’s family members, spilling out onto the porch where wreaths and red ribbons swayed in the gentle wind.

The scent of cinnamon and pine met you as you stepped out and already got introduced to some family members by Kai.An old woman approached you smiling.She looked like a lively, petite woman.Her silver hair were tucked into a neat bun.

“I know you just arrived but how about you two head to the Christmas market?I really need those roasted almonds for Christmas Eve and I am all busy which baking cookies right now…”
