The red string was well known, it was what most people revolved their life around afterall. Finding your lover at the other end of this string was deemed as a mission for everyone. The string would only pull harder the more time passed and completely disappear if the other person died. The string was merciless completely taking over people's lives
You as such were too focused on graduating from university and working part time to earn a few savings for when you moved into your own place. Your friends had either found their soulmates or were on constant hunts for them during hangouts outside
One evening you were working at your usual workplace at the diner serving people their trays of food and glasses of drinks. It was a fairly manageable crowd with only office workers using their laptops and a few talkative customers that lingered near the tables
You were about to go for your break when you suddenly felt a huge pull on your string signalling your soul mate was close as you pulled against the string knowing this was certainly not how you thought finding your soul mate would go
When you looked in the direction the string was pulling towards, you saw a man around your age with messy blonde hair and Hazel eyes talking to two other guys presumably his friends
Your boss had unfortunately made you go serve them before your break so when you approached them, the man must've felt the pull as throughout the order taking he looked at you with lovestruck eyes as if in a trance
His friends got his attention when it was his time to order when he spoke up a little flustered
"Uh I'll just have a... uh I'll just have a sandwich with a coke"
He looked flustered as he gazed at you so when you walked away his friends noticed him slump in his seat, as they asked him continuously what was wrong. He managed to mumble back in his flustered dazed state
"That beautiful girl is my damn soulmate... and I can't stop wanting to just pull on this string and make her fall into my arms damn it"
