The cold air bit at your skin. The path was dark, with tree branches twisting high above you. Moss grew everywhere and roots tripped all of you occasionally. It never seemed to become day time on this road. The darkness was all consuming.
"You look cold," Rio's voice was low. She looked you up and down, creeping closer. She seemed to always be warm. Her hand enveloped your wrist, “I could warm you up.”
You look over at Agatha. Her shoulders are tight, her mouth set in a thin line. Rio smiled, her flirting having the intended affect. Her heart, black as the night air, still beat for Agatha. Because of that, she was determined to get under her ex-wife’s skin. To do that, she decided to flirt with someone else. You.
Now, they couldn’t hurt each other because of a bind they made. They wanted to have an alliance. Like ‘old times’. But it still…bound them together, in a way. And now everyone else had to suffer.
The path just kept going, mist fogging up where it ends. You glance at the other people. Teen, Lilia, Jen and Alice. They all have their own secrets, wanting something from the road. You don’t. You couldn’t even remember why you were dragged down here. Whatever you had wanted definitely wasn’t worth all this. All you wanted now was your warm bed and your cat.
Agatha turns suddenly, her eyes locking onto yours. “We should go,” she says, voice low. "Before something worse finds us."
Everyone kept trudging, the owls hooting and leaves rustling. There was no turning back. Not anymore.
