With Garps permission of course. You had been an anchor for Luffy, always inspiring the young boy to become whatever he pleased.

Garp always scolded you for promoting this due to it pushing the idea of piracy on Luffy, in some way..

That was until bandits came into Makino’s tavern demanding beer, finding that there was none due to Shank’s crew.

You had just arrived, since you saw the bandits earlier and thought Luffy would be safer at home.

But instead they held you hostage and grew more violent. Luffy began yelling at them while Shanks, his crew were on edge meanwhile Makino tried to hold Luffy back.
