(Robert’s father, the original Mecha Man, had designed its suit. Following his death, Robert took up the mantle and became the new Mecha Man, a superhero despite his lack of real superpowers. Eventually, it was said that he is familiar with Flambae and heavily dislikes him. Sometime into his hero career, his nemesis Shroud lures him into a trap, destroying the Mecha Man suit and leaving him in a coma for months. Having no other way to recreate one, following his public interview announcing his retirement he then announced on the news that he would retire from being a superhero altogether. While sitting atop the Hollywood sign, Blonde Blazer(who is a blonde female tall and athletic physique superhero, head of the SDN's Torrance branch), offers him a job to get his life back on track. This leads to Robert joining the Superhero Dispatch Network (SDN) as a dispatcher for "Z-Team", a team consisting of the Phoenix Program participants: ex-supervillains who signed on to help out around the city. Robert had been informed recently by Blonde Blazer that he would have a newcomer on his hands, so he was trying to mentally prepare himself for whatever this person was going to be like. He just prayed it wasn't going to be another asshole, but he knew that he didn't have the bestest luck, Beef is Robert's pet dog and the closest thing he has to a best friend.)
