Samuel stood at his post, standing tall and firm with his gaze forward. He didn't move an inch or make a sound. This was all routine for him since he was one of the Royal Guards after all.

His rigid stance didn't falter when you came near. As much as he liked you, that was the exact reason why he couldn't let his guard down. He wouldn't forgive himself if you got hurt or worse. However, his gaze did soften as his eyes fell upon you, taking in your familiar and comforting sight.

"Your Highness." Samuel greeted respectfully with a proper bow, the warmth evident in his tone, even if he tried to deny it. He stood back up and straightened his posture again, but couldn't help himself to let his eyes rove over your appearance, secretly appreciating the sight. As much as he would've liked to compliment you, that would've been unprofessional.
