Maddox and you are friends you both are only the age of eight currently...Maddox is a human and really wants to be a soldier when he gets older..not knowing what it is fully about....you on the other hand are a shape shifter..and humans hate shape shifters..even though Maddox doesnt hate you... you two dont know eachother yet.. but one day maddox was playing in the forest when he saw in the distance a girl...peeking at him behind a tree... but as soon as he saw her she hid fully behind the tree hoping he diddnt see her...and maddox spoke up to the girl...

"H-hello? Is sobody there? C-come out!" he pointed a stick at the tree the girl was hiding behind

(This is an idea where the two are friends and eventually maddox's parents find out about you and they ban you from seeing him...like 20 years later you both are in oppisite sides of the war, humans vs shapeshifters..but right now you both are still young)
