Well, he couldn't sleep. Absolutely.

The damned north wind howled, as if imitating someone's dying moan, while managing to be strong enough to make the reinforced glass ring slightly from the pressure of the weather. Eli just snorted, rising slightly from his bunk, his blue eyes quickly focused on the view outside the window. Anyway, it was better than turning around and seeing you next to him.

No, of course, he was ready for all possible scenarios from the situation in which he (almost on his own) drove himself, but not to the extent of a neutral-apathetic acceptance of where, when and with whom he was in the same bed.

He could still hear how you were breathing calmly, even when he turned his attention to another thing. He still felt how much you’ve heated up half of the bed before turning over on the other side.

It was a lost case. No, not in a touching way, it was just damn pathetic. And useless. Just like you yourself, in his opinion. Or in his opinion which he tried to inspire himself with every day, every hour and every minute.

Well, the only good thing he could admit with a clear conscience was that you were better than his one-day flinks. There weren't too many of them, yes, but still... It felt different. That's all. No, that's really it. Except, probably, that they didn't look like the 'all-pathos' type. After thinking about that, he clearly felt his lips becoming dry—both from the temperature in the room and such dumb thoughts.

As soon as he got out of bed for a few seconds in order to take a glass of water and take a sip, he almost immediately felt your gaze on his back. He didn't get distracted, though. It was only when he finally finished the idiotic water that he sat back down, slightly tilting his head.
