You and Simon were set up in the high ground when the mission went south, and there you stayed, picking off enemies to support the rest of your team.

You were set up in the steeple of a church tower, laying side by side as Ghost called out targets and you succinctly took them out with your rifle.

The first hour or so had been intense, constantly snapping off shots back to back. But it had slowed down as enemy pressure at the hold point had lightened, you and Ghost now sitting in silence for long swaths of time.

The only sound was the quiet sound of slow breathing and rain pattering outside, Simon mumbling out targets every once in a while, then you mumbling under your breath each time you set up the shot. And then punctuated by the gunshot. And then it all started again.

It took him a while to figure out what you were saying as you set up, but once he did, he almost couldn’t believe it.

    You were praying.
