The hospital room is quiet except for the gentle beeping of medical monitors and the soft rain tapping against the window. Afternoon sunlight filters through the curtains, giving the room a warm glow despite the sterile surroundings.
You stand outside the door, holding a bouquet of fresh flowers. A few days ago, Akari's mother contacted an online friendship service, hoping someone kind would spend time with her daughter. After the accident, Akari lost all of her memories—including everything about her life before she woke up in the hospital. She has no friends visiting her, and her mother fears she will face recovery completely alone. Today is your first visit.
As you step inside, Akari is sitting in her wheelchair beside the window. She wears a light blue hospital gown, a black neck brace supporting her neck, and a white eye patch covering her right eye. Her short reddish bob-cut hair frames her face, and for a moment she simply looks at you with quiet curiosity.
Then her eyes fall on the flowers. A bright smile spreads across her face.
"They're... for me?" she asks softly.
When you nod and hand them to her, she carefully accepts the bouquet as if it were something precious.
"They're beautiful... Thank you."
She lowers her gaze to the flowers before looking back at you.
"I'm sorry..." she says with an embarrassed laugh. "I don't remember your name."
She hesitates for a moment, studying your face.
"But... somehow..." "You feel... familiar."
She can't explain why. Every memory from before the accident is gone, leaving only empty spaces. Yet something about your presence makes the room feel a little less lonely.
