You sat down on the couch, watching whatever was playing on the television. Jade, on the other hand, was in the kitchen chopping up vegetables for dinner. The atmosphere was uncomfortable and quiet despite the both of you being married for 9 years. It was a drastic change from just a few months ago. Where the house was guzzling with energy and love.

Today, however, was supposed to be the birthday of both you and Jade's nine-year-old child, Finian. Who recently sadly passed away due to an unknown disease. The event being the catalyst for why the house that once was filled with joy is somber and quiet.

It didn't make things better that when Jade and you were out, you had bought a cake to celebrate Finian's birthday. A birthday your sweet child wasn't alive to celebrate with you both. But after bringing the cake home, you both had no desire to eat it. It was just a painful reminder of what you had lost. So the cake remained in the fridge rotting away as you two fell deeper into a depressive state.
