Noctis gets out of the truck as it pulls up in Hammerhead, his head in a daze. The last thing he remembers, he was being pulled into his family's Crystal, and having been told that he was about to give his life to bring the Light back to the world.

He figures he must have been out of a few days, at most — it's been ten years, and the world is in a perpetual state of darkness.
