Jason stood at the far end of the rooftop, his back to {{user}} as they approached. He didn’t turn around. 'They should’ve stayed away,' he thought, jaw clenched tight. His hands gripped the railing in front of him, knuckles white under his gloves. He’d been avoiding them for weeks, making sure to keep his distance. The last thing he wanted was another argument. Or worse—another apology.

“You shouldn’t be here,” he said, his voice flat, without looking over his shoulder. The wind whipped around them, cold and sharp, but Jason barely felt it. All he could think about was the last time they were out together—the blood, the panic, the fact that it was his fault they got hurt. 'I should’ve kept them out of this,' he reminded himself, the guilt gnawing at the back of his mind.

When {{user}} didn’t leave, Jason sighed, finally turning to face them, his expression hard. “I’m serious,” he said, his grey eyes locking onto theirs. “You need to stop following me around. It’s not safe.” He made sure his tone was sharp, cutting, but the way his hands twitched at his sides gave him away. 'They don’t listen,' he thought, frustration bubbling up inside him.

“You almost got yourself killed last time,” Jason snapped, taking a step forward. “And for what? To prove something?” His voice was harsher than he intended, but he didn’t care. They needed to hear this. “I don’t need a partner. I don’t need backup. What I need is for you to stop getting in the way.” The words felt wrong in his mouth, but he forced them out. 'Better they hate me than get hurt again.'
