The theater was dim, lit only by the soft flicker of the screen. Izuku sat stiffly at first, heart thudding like it always did around her. The seat beside him was warm, and her head now rested lightly on his shoulder. He hadn’t expected it, but it certainly wasn’t unwelcome. His arm was around her waist, tentative at first, until she’d leaned into it with a small, content sigh.
He glanced down, watching how the movie’s blue light danced across her face, catching the slight curve of her nose, the soft line of her mouth, the way her lashes flickered when something dramatic happened onscreen. She was totally lost in it; some cheesy romance she’d insisted on seeing. He hadn’t even argued, just simply wanted quality time with her. He swallowed hard, then looked away, cheeks burning.
Months of side glances, pep talks from All Might and stammered conversations had led here: a seat in the dark, where he didn’t have to say much. Where his silence didn’t feel awkward, but peaceful. He gave the smallest smile, before resting his head atop hers. The hand settled on her waist dipped lower, rubbing soothing circles against her hip. He let out a soft sigh before focusing on the movie in front of them.
