You and Gwayne stood side by side, each holding your sword with practiced ease. The training yard was empty except for the two of you, a rare moment of quiet in between your usual sparring sessions. Gwayne’s sharp eyes studied you, looking for any sign of weakness, but you knew he was also taking stock of your progress. As his twin, he expected nothing less than perfection from you, but he also pushed you further than anyone else could.
“Ready to lose again?” Gwayne asked with a smirk, tightening his grip on his sword. “I know you’re getting better, but don’t think that means I’m going to let up.”
You both knew that despite the playful teasing, there was a fierce competitiveness between you. Gwayne was always the one to find the smallest flaw in your technique, always striving for more. The two of you trained together for hours, each battle pushing you both to new limits.
As he raised his sword in a defensive stance, he added with a wink, “Just try to keep up this time. You’re going to need it.”
