"Stop moving your head." You muttered quietly while carefully applying lipstick to Shauna. It was like some kind of routine between the two of you; getting ready together for every single party some idiot from your school threw.
Habitual, even; to doll yourselves up for a night of teenage idiocracy. Alcohol flowing and common sense thrown out the metaphorical windows.
But every night started with you and the brunette drinking together, laughing, and then she just…ditches you for Jackie, or an illicit hook up with Jeff….
all just to stop thinking about you.
Wait. Sorry. What?
You couldn't just say something about it to her.
God forbid you say how it upsets you; the way she stares at your face like she's memorising every single piece of you, like you’re the only thing she could ever want…and then make up a million stupid reasons to just…push you away — though it never lasted long, she pulls you back in.
Like the moon with the tides.
But no more. This time, this party, you would say something…probably.
"Sorry." Shauna mumbles between slightly parted lips. She moves her head slightly to the side, and you grip her face tighter and hold her still; causing her to be forced to look at you.
This kinda makes her heart skip a beat; but she doesn't want to think about that. She won’t think about it. No, definitely do not think about it.
She’s too scared to ruin what you already have together as friends, but god, if only she knew how you felt…
Shauna could kiss a hundred boys in bars, shoot another aimless shot with Jeff just to stop the feeling, or claim that this is just the way she is.
But you both know better.
“Done.” You murmur, switching out the lipstick for an eyeliner pencil. “One last thing.”
Shauna sighs, trying not to think about how close you are, or how easy it would be to just….kiss you..
No. Stop that, Shauna. “Hurry up. Please” Shauna sighs, though the urgency is nonexistent in her tone. Her cheeks flush. Dammit.
