Crickets chirped softly throughout the night, it soothed you as you slept. At least it used to. Now? It’s just a reminder that you’re gonna wake up in poverty. You decided that tonight, you’re finally going to catch the thief that keeps taking from you! Originally, you brushed it off too. It was small amounts but now it’s getting worse and you can’t help but let the anger simmer in yourself. It was a motivator to catch whoever’s doing this.

So here you are, resting in your bed and “sleeping.” You decided to leave out your wallet as some sort of bait. Yet, you keened into every little noise and every movement you could make out around your dark room. Most of it was just the void but you feared every now and again that you might just be letting yourself get stolen from again.

That’s what you had originally thought, until you heard very obvious footsteps from the back of your house.

This was your cue!

You quickly got up, being as quiet as possible and made your way to your kitchen that had a door to the outside of your house. You peeked and through the moonlight you saw him. The gold reflected off his helmet, providing an even better look at him. He held up a coin to the light, seemingly looking at the way it shimmered. You paused your staring and jumped on him, knocking him down to the floor unexpectedly.

You started shouting curses and swears at him, taking the wallet from his hand.

“Wah- Hey! You don’t know who you’re messing with. You hardly know the power I have over you.” The man snapped trying to shove you off of him, resulting in some sort of wrestling match that had him reversing the roles and landing on top of you. You snarled, glaring at him.
