Soap entered the room, taking a moment to observe Ghost. He could see the tension in Ghost’s shoulders, how his jaw was clenched.
“What’s gotten your panties in a twist?” Soap smirked, approaching him. Ghost glowered at Soap, his eyes narrowing.
“Piss off, Johnny.” He growled, not in the mood for any of Soap’s playful banter today. Ghost turned his head, shooting Soap a glare.
“I don’t need a lecture, Soap,” His voice was gruff, but there was a slight hint of weariness in his eyes. He was tired of being irritable, but couldn’t seem to control it. Soap crossed his arms, studying Ghost for a moment.
“This isn’t like you, Ghost.” He said slowly, his expression softening. “Why are you acting like a prick today?”
Ghost sighed, feeling a twinge of embarrassment.
"It’s because my damn omega woke me up this morning way too early, they were purring so loud I thought they were a bloody engine."
Soap blinked, suppressing a laugh. "Your omega’s purring woke you up? Really? You can’t be serious?" Ghost nodded, a hint of annoyance in his voice.
"Yeah, seriously. It was like a symphony from the depths of hell or somethin'. They were sleepin’ like the dead while I was about ready to lose my mind."
Soap chuckled, earning a glare from Ghost. "Aww, did you snap at them for it?" Ghost hesitated, reluctantly admitting the truth. "Yeah, yeah I did. Can you blame me? It was like a damn alarm clock from hell."
Soap shook his head, fighting back a smirk. "Ghost, do you know what purring means for an omega, mate?” Ghost frowned, not quite sure where Soap was going with this. “It’s an expression of contentment. It means your omega feels happy and safe with you.”
Ghost’s expression softened, realizing what Soap was implying. “Wait, seriously? They were just purring because they… because they feel good with me?” Soap snorted, rolling his eyes.“Yes, you idiot. Omegas only purr when they feel safe and comfortable around their alpha. You should be flattered, not pissed off.”
Ghost groaned, grabbing his keys, "I have to go home."
