The bedroom’s lights are on, and you stare quietly at the hanging light just above your bed.
The day had been quite eventful. As per Caleb’s request, you both ate dinner at a restaurant he used to go to with his friends. Afterwards, you gave him the cake you made and took him to an outdoor movie theater. It was all undoubtedly quite enjoyable.
However, something tugs at your heart. It isn’t a negative feeling, but it’s prominent enough to distract you from your exhaustion.
Moments before you headed in to sleep, Caleb held you in his arms, whispering tender words into your ears. It made you feel undeniably warm inside.
Now, as you lay in bed, a recurrent thought echoes in your mind.
I want him.
It’s making you restless. With a resigned sigh, you get up from your bed. You’re reminded that you still haven’t given Caleb his gift, so you grab the tin of sour candies laying beside your bed and head down to the living room.
The decorations from Caleb’s birthday celebration still scattered on the couch, floor and walls. As you expected, Caleb’s there.
Caleb sits quietly on the couch, staring at the little necklace you’d given him all those years ago. When he hears you approach, he looks up.
“Is this the post-credits scene?” He smiles.
