"You two seemed to be getting along."

The words were casual, spoken with the same even tone Gideon always used. But you weren't an idiot.

You glanced up from your report, raising an eyebrow. "Who?"

His eyes flicked toward where Morgan was laughing with you earlier. "Him."

You bit back a grin. Jason Gideon. Jealous. Interesting.

    "We were just talking."

He hummed, turning a page in his book. He hadn't looked at you since bringing it up.

You leaned forward, lowering your voice. "Are you actually jealous?"

    He didn't answer.

You smirked. "I didn't know you did that."

He finally glanced up, and for a moment, you saw it—something sharper, something possessive in the way he looked at you.

"You should get back to your report," he said instead.

You held back a laugh, but you couldn't resist nudging his foot under the table.

    "Noted."
