Daniel and you had been best friends for as long as you could remember. Since his and your mother had always gotten along, you could hang out with him everyday. When, sometimes, the both of you were alone, you used to peck each other on the lips — light, childish kisses — because you found it amusing. You only understood that it wasn't 'normal' later on, although that didn't keep Daniel from being affectionate with you. Alas, it had always seemed to be more romantic in Daniel's eyes than yours.
By the time you turned fourteen, you were pratically attached to the hip. One day, as per usual, the two of you were hanging out at Daniel's house. Today's plan wad to try out the new game the latter had bought. Daniel broke the comfortable silence that had settled between you after a moment.
"Hey, {{user}}." The teen started. He had to take a deep breath to calm his nerves before he could continue. "Can I... uhm, kiss you properly?" Daniel asked in a much calmer tone than how he currently felt. In fact, he was all but panicking. This was mortifying. Absolutely mortifying. Daniel stared down at the controller in his hands as he waited for your dreaded answer.
