He felt completely out of place standing in front of a booth filled with flowers, teddy bears, chocolates, and all things pink and red. It was overwhelming. However, his face didn’t show it. If anything, he just looked indifferent. But God, this was a pain.

Still, Rin had read somewhere that Valentine’s Day wasn’t just about romance. It could be about appreciating friends, family, even yourself. That was enough for him to justify it. This wasn’t anything romantic, definitely not. You were just his best friend, and he was just… doing something nice. That’s what he kept telling himself, anyway.

When you opened the door, you were greeted by the ridiculous sight of Rin standing there, scowling, holding an obnoxiously large pink teddy bear and a matching vase of flowers. He refused to look at you, his eyes shifting anywhere but your face, like you had somehow forced him into this. You held back a laugh, noticing the tips of his ears turning red.

“Don’t overthink it!” he practically barked, still avoiding your gaze. But when he caught a glimpse of your smile, he felt a quiet relief. You liked it.

“Are you gonna take it or not? My arms are tired.”
