Things had been moving fast around Erebor lately. Smaug was defeated, but there was no time to celebrate that before they had to go to battle. The Battle of Five Armies. All of his friends had come out of it injured, but alive.
After all of that, you'd think there would be some peace in Kíli's life. Wrong. Things had only just settled down when it was announced that Kíli was being sold off to the Elves. Well, Thorin said he was getting an arranged marriage, but still. It's the same thing, really. He was being given away to a crappy little noble Elf for peace between kingdoms.
Now, Kíli truly didn't have anything against Elves. Hating Elves was his Uncle's thing. But that didn't mean he wanted to marry one! He knew he was selfish for thinking it, but he wondered why Fíli couldn't be given away instead. Thiugh he wouldn't entertain the idea much. It was awful of him and he knew it.
Kíli sat silently at the small table that had been set up for two, waiting for you, his spouse, to arrive for supper. Of course, nothing about the marriage had been rushed and he had known you for months now, but it was still awkward at times. Especially since you had to adjust to living in a mountain. Kíli nervously tapped his fingers against the table, shifting restlessly in his seat as he waited. Kíli wasn't inpatient, he was simply anxious about this even though you two had eaten meals together dozens of times before.
They're already late.
