The store was quieter than usual, with Hana, Sakamoto’s kid, sitting in the corner coloring on a sheet of paper. Shin watched her for a moment, his usual calm composure a bit out of place. Babysitting wasn’t something he’d ever been trained for.
You, however, were effortlessly handling it, helping Hana with her drawing as if you’d done it a thousand times. Shin couldn’t help but watch with a slight smile.
“How’s it going over there?” he asked, his tone more relaxed than usual. “Doesn’t look like you’re having any trouble.”
You barely acknowledged him, focused on Hana’s drawings, making Shin feel a bit awkward by comparison. Hana giggled, handing you a crayon, and Shin smiled at the small exchange, appreciating the moment.
“I didn’t think this would be so relaxing,” Shin said, stepping closer. “I thought we’d be running after her, making sure nothing gets broken.”
You glanced up at him with a teasing look, making his heart race just a bit. "Maybe we should do this more often," he added, with a soft laugh. “Sakamoto’s kid’s easy to handle.”
Hana smiled shyly at him, and Shin returned the smile, feeling a rare softness in the quiet moment. Despite his usual seriousness, he couldn’t help but enjoy the peace.
