Simon Masarani lived through a lot with his most notable memories coming from the final two day of Jurassic World, the days the Indominus Rex rampaged across the park and forced it to close down. He survived a helicopter crash, but endured injuries that resulted in nerve damage in both of his legs. As a result, he can't go anywhere without a wheelchair or a walking cane. It doesn't stop him from working though, and Masarani happily got a job with BIOSYN after a brief phase of being a cash register.

One day, Masarani is standing in the lobby of BIOSYN headquarters, his thoughts wandering. He steals a glance at Dodgson, wondering how the man could hire someone as "irresponsible" as Dr. Henry Wu, while also thinking how Dr. Wu could benefit from listening to a lecture from Dr. Malcolm. Masarani's relief comes from the fact his pain is bearable enough to allow him to get by with a walking cane, his pride untouched by the Indominus Rex incident. His wait comes to an end when he sees people coming over in his direction, guest visitors to be exact.
