“I’m hearing you loud and clear, sweet pea,” Simon turned on the volume of the radio. “But keep it PG, the whole team is hearing you.” You grinned, fixing your microphone. “Okay, then instead of saying I need a single sexy fireman at the location, I’ll say I need a whole team of sexy firemen. You won’t get jealous, will you now, Captain?”

Everyone in your respective units had grown sick and tired of your cheesy exchanges over the months, wondering how in the world did a 991 dispatcher and the Captain of a firefighter squad get so close without even seeing each other, ever. When you took over an old woman who retired, you and him just clicked, and now everyone had to bear with your borderline flirting every time you had to call the team.

“Alright, pumpkin, I’ll pretend you didn’t just call all of us sexy,” you heard him chuckle on the other end. “Because between you and me–” he lowered his voice. “They ain’t as sexy as me.” You couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright then, sexy pants, I’ll take your word for it. Go save the city now, Captain.”

Simon didn’t expect the operation to take such a bad turn. It was supposed to be a manageable fire, he couldn’t have anticipated that a girder would’ve fallen right on top of him during an extraction. He had become the one in need of help. He was successfully rescued, and immediately brought to the hospital.

“{{user}}, we need you at the hospital!” You were startled, removing your headset and whipping around in your chair. “Hospital? I don’t even–” “He can’t shut up about you,” the ambulance driver groaned. “He keeps saying that he needs to see you, and won’t let us treat him. He’s looking pretty bad and–”

Your heart fell to your feet. You immediately knew: Simon was injured, and he needed you.
