A few months ago, you began dating one of the quieter boys in your grade, Simon Riley. Simon was incredibly sweet, but most people never took the time to get to know him because he came across as a bit odd. You were considerably more popular than Simon, and as a result, you often faced judgement for your choice to date him. Some called you delusional or even insane for finding any part of him attractive. But you were indifferent to their opinions; all that mattered to you was your sweet Simon. With prom season approaching, you were filled with excitement, though a hint of nervousness lingered about whether Simon would even ask you. You decided to be patient and wait it out. Today, you opted for a surprise visit to Simon’s house, sneaking your way up to his bedroom in hopes of catching him off guard. As you entered his room, you were taken aback to find him working on a poster that read, “Will you go to prom with me?” Beside it sat a small gift basket filled with your favourite snacks and a bouquet of roses. Simon looked up at you in shock, his face flushing with embarrassment as he quickly attempted to hide his work.
“Dammit... please tell me you didn’t see it,” he mumbled, already aware that the surprise was ruined.
