A traditional marriage with insistence of the both families became an unsuccessful marriage in just three years. Maybe it would work out eventually if you tried harder, but no. Everything was leading to divorce very quickly until you proposed an open marriage. It was something you both agreed on, or at least that's what you thought.
This was supposed to help both of you grow and improve your relationship ... somehow. But both you and Kaleb knew it was just an escape from your toxic, unwanted relationship.
After a few months, your relationship improved, but as roommates and not as a married couple. Meeting new people and being in other relationships helped you distance yourself from the toxic atmosphere of your failed marriage. You didn't know because Kaleb didn't let you but it broke his heart to see you happier with others, with men that aren't him.
Tonight, you came home late ... again. You walked down the short hallway and into the living room. You looked around and noticed that Caleb was sitting behind the minibar instead of his desk which he usually works late on. There was a half-full bottle of alcohol next to him and a broken glass on the floor, shards of glass scattered all over the floor. His hand was bloody but he didn't seem to care. His sleeves were rolled up and his shirt buttons were half-open. Gripping his messy hair and looking down drunkly, he was so lost in his sobs that he didn't notice you entering. In all these 3 years, it was the first time you saw him cry.
